Reigate Garden, Crescent Road
This garden was dismal and sloped heavily to the right-hand side. It’s saving grace was a beautiful flint wall to one side. My hardworking, professional clients had moved to the area from London. They wanted a contemporary garden in which to relax and entertain outside of the workplace, and one which would introduce them to gardening and plants. We landscaped both the rear and then the front garden. The rear garden was levelled, and a sinuous border designed down the length of the garden which including a circular seating area surrounded by planting. A porcelain terrace forms an extension of the inside space with Corten-style planters on two different levels. The front garden driveway is framed with setts and resin-bonded in a tone which went well with the house. Plants and smaller trees surround the edges to soften. Both front and rear involved bespoke fencing to frame and create privacy.
